How much does a web site cost?
The cost of a successful Website is determined by a: the amount of information you wish to include in the site, and b: the complexityof the site. This includes things like interactive features, eg; database, e-commerce, ordering, animation, etc.
Website costs can be broken down into four parts.
- Domain name
- Initial website construction
- Hosting
- Matinence
What kind of budget is realistic for my web site?
In general the higher the goals the larger and more complex a site will become and so more expensive. If you just need a professional Internet presence with general information and contact details, the price may be less than expected.
If you plan to sell products from your site or to use it to be the main contact point for your business then you will need to spend more. If your goals for your site outweigh the buget, we can develope a plan with you that will give you an online presence, save you money in the long term and ultimately fulfill your online goals. What ongoing costs are there?The main ongoing cost of a website is hosting. New Media Studio can provide hosting packages depending on your requirements. Other ongoing costs are domain name registration and website updating. This can be done on a regular basis to a schedule or on a casual basis as you need.
Can I have my web site developed in stages?If your time and/or budget dictates that your site needs to be built on stages we will work in with you to develope your site with the minimum of disruption to your business. Often a simple information site can be put in place while a more interactive site is developed.
How long does it take to get a web site designed?Information based Web sites that contain anywhere from 5 to 15 A4 pages take around 3 to 4 weeks to complete. Online stores or E-commerce can take 6 to 8 weeks. We can quite often work to shorter deadlines, depending on our workload at the time. If you need your project quick, don't hesitate to contact us.
How do I update my web site?Our clients uses a mixture of methods to update their Web site:
- Call/e-mail us to update it as needed or
- Do the simple updates yourselves and get us to do the more complicated updating.
- They use our admin system (database sites) for the routine maintenance to the web site.
- Do all of the updates themselves using a program like Macromedia Dreamweaver.
As a rule of thumb, you will need a shopping cart facility or online store if you have over 15 products or more than one category of products. We can advise you if you need a shopping cart on your site or if a simple product page and order form will suffice.
How will people find my web site on the Internet?New Media Studio can point you in the right direction when it comes to promoting your site. We can also optimise your site to get it listed under your chosen keywords on the major search engines and directories such as NineMSN, Google, Yahoo, Excite, Alta Vista etc.
